It is the month of October, and that means Halloween! Head to the country’s capital region, where you shall find some fantastic and Fun Halloween events in Washington, DC for people of all age groups. So bring on the Jack O’ lanterns, your outlandish costumes, the candy, and the masks, because this season is not just about the apple picking!

With Halloween comes seasonal fun, from fall festivals to pumpkin picking! So gather all the ghosts and witches and set out for some Halloween themed events around the area.

1. Boo at the Zoo

The Smithsonian’s National Zoo hosts an event called the Boo at the Zoo every year. This is the opportunity for your kids out there to dress up as their favorite scary characters and trick-or-treat at more than forty candy stations, get into the story-telling session by the zookeeper, walk through the park filled with live creepy crawlies, and a lot more!

2. 17th Street High Heel Race

Over thirty years ago, a group of drunk drag queens ran down the 17th road from one bar to another. This simple act of theirs evolved into a colossal gathering of people who gather at Dupont Circle and race from JR’s Bar to Annie’s Paramount Steakhouse, down the 17th street, in high heels! The running has come to be known as the 17th Street High Heel Race and is one out of many fun Halloween events in DC.

3. Markoff’s Haunted Forest

The Markoff family hosts the most haunted attraction in the region every year in Dickerson, Maryland. The Markoff’s Haunted Forest has two haunted trails that the guests can choose from; the second one is comparatively new and scarier. This event starts at the beginning of October till the night of Halloween.

4. Fall Frolic
